Organization Description

Founded in 1947, Somerset County Library's mission to inform, educate, entertain, and enrich community members’ lives remains unchanged. However, specific goals and strategies for carrying out this mission have evolved with the changing needs and challenges of our community. Through community programs, public access technology, responsive services, print and online resources, and special initiative, SCL helps people meet the demands of 21st-century life and reach their goals.

As the headquarters library of the Somerset County Federated Library System, SCL is the primary provider of staffing for the SCFLS STEAM Initiative educational improvement program. The SCFLS STEAM Initiative educational improvement program offers clubs, workshops, and summer camps in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics with the ultimate goal of helping Somerset County grow its own STEM professionals locally.

Cheryl Morgan, Director of SCL and Administrator of SCFLS, also serves as a public library representative for the CSB2 STEM Ecosystem.
